Will nominate Kev for a sainthood on return for help in packing bikes although resembling a mechano set was not to difficult re-assemble.
Some stress when negotiating the myriads of motorways while jet lagged. Did hit panic level when Monika took over the driving - her last effort was on a tractor in Benalla some 20 years back !
Having made Honiton I promptly planted a papal kiss on the ground realising that i might yet make another birthday !
A sense of real adventure is now upon us - Monika's drive and determination has been instrumental in bringing her to this point - helping Belinda and Anne in Oz and Parkinsons in UK will be a great motivator for her
ps
Have decided to forego plan to cycle with kilt / commnado style in Scotland following recent freeeze !
In June 2011 I will bike over 2000km's unsupported from John O'Groats to Lands End UK ! My motivation is simple i.e. 1) To undertake a life challenge that is physically and spiritually rewarding 2) Raise funds to help 2 worthy local OZ causes - Painting with Parkinsons & a local 10 year old girl with Autism named Maleah 3) Promote awareness and support for Parkinsons UK ! Any support is greatly welcomed. I hope my journey inspires others !

The Journey Begins !
After a tiring and uneventful flight (if you call passing out from low blood pressure uneventful) I'm finally here 36 hours later in Hoiniton Devon home from home, land of scrumpy, UK HQ's of end to end ride !
The trip was only marginally stressful, bikes were safely retrieved and loaded into the hire car straightforward enough (thx Kev for your great help in Oz !) Stress levels peaked though when we were lost staight after coming out of Heathrow and even more when I took over the driving and decided to crunch some gears on the way Sth to Devon - been while since I've driven a manual!
Its great to be with the family they are wonderfully supportive of my effort although I'm sure the word looney snuck into conversation a few times. For me I'm rapt to be able to start the journey and help as best as I can Belinda & Anne back in Oz while also raising awareness of Parkinsons to aid research both in Oz & the UK.
Have had a couple of warm up rides around town the weather is mild although with a biting wind - am a bit wary as it snowed in Scotland only last week !
We're heading Nth wards tomorrow before training it to Wick to start our the ride on Saturday !
Thx for support both motivational and pledges as goes to great causes. I look forward to sharing my journey with you.
