| Monika at Clifton Suspension Bridge |
We made good progress in threatening conditions (as always) this morning skirting the Welsh-English border to Monmouth. A huge 5km climb out of Monmouth had my knee playing up again
Rain made conditions tricky as we eventually cycled down into Chepstow & across the massive Severn Bridge some 2 miles long.
Then things started then to go ape as non existent signage had us zig zagging for 4 hours in an attempt to escape Bristol the only highlight being crossing the spectacular Clifton Bridge on the out skirts of Bristol.
Exhausted after 11 hours on the go we plonked at a local pub in Long Ashton. I am so looking forward to making Honiton tomorrow & having a rest day before the last 3 days cycle to Lands End.
An official check showed some 1600km's cycled-it might be a while before I jump on a bike again once this is finished!

HI Mon & Mike, Bet you can taste the local brew nearly from here, had trouble plotting you along the English / Welsh border so had you sleeping in Tintern Abbey for the night, had no complaints so those in high places must agree you have earnt the right to open a religious door, hope the monks didn't keep you awake.Second day I could follow you easy as I have been to Bristol a few times over the years. I recently did a painting of Isambard Brunnel's 1850's bridge having been that way myself, so when you get home just incase the camera didn't work you will have a painting of Clifton Bridge. You have travelled 1600kms, bl--dy marvellous effort, strap that leg with ice at night Monika only 4 days left at the most.

Hi Monika & Mike,
I presume you are at Long Ashton, so Honiton is a good bet in one day tomorrow catch a lorry down the M5 then some Country Lanes to two days rest, Or 85 - 95kms in the saddle. If this was a horse race tomorrow you will be turning into the home straight. Just the right time for two days rest, at the home straight bend and bl--dy deserved, and as this is not a horse race who gives a toss where you stop, you two will go down in history as the pair that ventured,
viewed and then conquered.
Love You Monika & Mike
