A glorious morning as I said goodbye to family & rode across
the magnificent Forth Bridge.
The 30km's into the centre of Edinburgh through it's leafy outer
suburbs was a peach compared to the nightmare of negotiating our
way out.
Lost-found-lost again before we finally climbed the surrounding hills
to Dalkeith & Carrington & then climbing again to enter wild & isolated
scenery that started the Scottish border region.By this time the weather
had changed to rain plus ice cold headwinds as we battled our way in the
gloom to Innerleithen some 50km's short of our planned target.
While bike is going well, the body is not & hard riding day after day
has caused swelling in one of my knees- oh well I knew this was not going
to be a picnic & I am determined to finish the ride!
In June 2011 I will bike over 2000km's unsupported from John O'Groats to Lands End UK ! My motivation is simple i.e. 1) To undertake a life challenge that is physically and spiritually rewarding 2) Raise funds to help 2 worthy local OZ causes - Painting with Parkinsons & a local 10 year old girl with Autism named Maleah 3) Promote awareness and support for Parkinsons UK ! Any support is greatly welcomed. I hope my journey inspires others !

Hi Mon, Mike and all the team,
I am so proud of you all, the body will ache,the heavens will open, and rain it may, but you are doing good. Sorry Mon can't help but reflect on how you would have felt in a kilt with the rain and wind blowing north up the you know where. Did you notice how green the countryside is,thats because it rains all the time.We have heard on the news that England is experiencing a drought, so be strong get through this rough patch, doesn't matter if you finish a couple of days late.
