The Annon Suportive Spouse (ASS) update

What was I thinking planning a route that had segments of the Pyranees, windswept wilds of Patagonia & New York on heat!
Ascents out of Dent & Settle in Yorkshire would have been better achieved with an ice pick & loaded pittons the roads were that steep - pushing a fully loaded bike was nearly impossible.
Crossing wind swept moor into Hebden Bridge into another headwind @ 5 miles an hour brought back memories of Tibet at it's worst.
Add industrial landscape where if you take a wrong turn (which we do regularly) you end up on a road feeling like you have entered on to a F1 racetrack.
Add loosing our map into the canal, getting lost, having bike difficulties & not being able to find accommodation & you have an idea of what it was like yesterday!
This is a tough ride but it also brings positives on di many levels. With a little luck & some good weather we will be back on track!

Chins up Mon & Mike,
Another posting like this one,and I will feel the Yorkshire moors are breaking you, although agreed it must be bl---y hard going. Unwelcoming, ungrateful countryside should be happy someone has gone out of their way to travel its way. This makes Scotland look like a Sunday bike ride. I trust things now start to ease up for you. I have a detailed map of the British Isles that I am picking up all these unmemtioned names on the itenary, all I am doing is moving a yellow marker to follow your route. Remember in the words of my old Dad:
"Todays Problem, will be Tomorrow's memory". Doesn't sound like much but keep positive for a little girl in Endeavor Hills with Autism. You are stronger than this cold barren countryside, and for what you are doing this ride for you should have bee despatched your own Guardian Angel. Anyway enough of that rubbish.
Keep onward and downward a this lot will become a little pimple on your backside in the scheme of things.
Loking forward to reading your next and happier report.
Luv Yer Monika and Michael'
Mick

I read about the problems and the difficulties you are going through and have my heart in my mouth!
Please take care!
When you get back - and it had better be in one piece- PWP will take you out to a celebratory lunch!
I find YOU inspirational and a lady of enormous courage.I read Mick's messages and wish I knew more about the countryside you are going through.
I love reading Mega Mike's entries. he is one special person too.

G'day Monika & Michael,
Really proud of you two. Reading your daily record makes me realise just how tough the going is and how strong and committed you both are to keep plugging away in spite of the many setbacks. More than half-way now and the contingent back home are cheering you on and feeling every aching muscle and sore bums with you. Be very careful and stay positive.
Love you both, Dad. xxxx
